Hi @ADEWILLS2019

If you're having trouble accessing your HP LaserJet M506 due to locked menus, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

  1. Power Cycle the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
    • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    • Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.
  2. Check for Network or Administrator Lock:

    • If the printer is part of a network, it may be locked by the network administrator. Ensure you have the necessary permissions to access the printer settings.
    • Contact the network administrator to check if there are restrictions set up for accessing printer menus.
  3. Perform a Cold Reset:

    • A cold reset can restore the printer to its factory default settings, which may help if it's locked. Note that this will remove all custom settings, including network configurations.
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Press and hold the right arrow button and then the Cancel button.
    • Continue holding both buttons while you turn the printer back on.
    • Release both buttons when you see the "Cold Reset" message on the display.
  4. Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

    • If the printer is on a network, you can access its Embedded Web Server (EWS) from a browser.
    • Enter the printer’s IP address in a web browser to access the EWS.
    • Navigate to the "Security" or "Settings" section to modify access settings if needed.

Taking these steps should help you unlock and set up your HP LaserJet M506. Make sure to record any custom settings before performing a cold reset, as you'll need to reconfigure them afterward.
