2018 year...
Drivers Forr Ubuntu Linux where are you?
😞
Updated later....
The only way today to get this scanner to work is to install any version of Windows under Virtual Box and to forward the USB device to the virtual machine. Then download driver from the official HP website and install it. That is, the company Hewlet-Packard is pushing its users to additional costs for the purchase of a license for Windows. I'd love Verity that HP still adds the driver for the printer in HPLIP.

Yes.... *HP* ===> Where are the Linux drivers for HP Scanjet Pro 2500 F1 ???
After many wasted hours, I too was forced to install a Windows virtual machine (Win7 / VMware) and Windows scanner driver in order to force this scanner to function.
Great scanner, lousy HP support. I encourage HP to help me change my mind.

Thank you Rakibulhaq for the heads up on HP's stated support of the Scanjet 2500 F1. I see that this scanner is added to supported devices in HPLIP.
I downloaded HPLIP 3.19.3 for testing. I did not get far because I had to print a document on my HP Color LaserJet M452dn printer. The printer did not work so I looked on supported devices. My printer is supported only up to HPLIP 3.16.3. This forces me to *keep* 3.16.3 and use a VM for scanning. So no, I cannot confirm the new HPLIP works.
HP --> this sucks. These devices are not rare. Why cannot you support *both* devices at the same time???
