linux mint 19.1.  installed 3.19.3  everything works except scanning. tried different scanners. same result.  hp team need to fix this problem. The old linux 18 no problem. occurred after upgrade to to mint 19.  no longer any support. I bought hp beause of their support in the past. other printers have support for scanning in mint 19

Hi,

Try following the below steps and check if that may work:

Additionally, I can see in the Release Notes that the latest HPLIP currently support up to Mint 19.1, that might be the reason too and you may need to wait for an update for later Mint 19 versions:

Added support for following new Distro's:
-Debian 9.7(64-bit)
-RHEL-7.6(64-bit)
-LinuxMint 19.1(64-bit)

thanks for trying. it is mint 19.1  looks like the developer left out scanner support. this has happen a for a couple of mint versions
