Hi,
Can you see the error immediately when starting your Mac or periodically?
Is the printer connected with a USB cable or through the network?

It happens eveytime I try to shut the computer down. This is when it goes into "kernal panic". We, apple and myself, attempted shutdowns with the printer disconnected but it doesn't help. It is connected by USB but also wireless. when we tried to uninstall the software there is a message that says the uninstaller is not compatible with catalina?!?!?!!?

That make sense, you may have any older software incompatible with your current OS/
Unplug the printer from your Mac.
Launch HP Easy Start below:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip
Immediately once HP Easy Start launches, click the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software, then follow the steps to uninstall any installed HP Software.
May you see any difference now?
Please let me know the results first, I will let you know how to reinstall it once we will confirm the issue no longer occurs with the HP software uninstalled.

Hey Shlomil.. I though the panic was gone but it looks like it is back. I reinstalled the HP software with the link you sent me since I didn't hear back from you. Is there something wrong with this software? do I need to uninstall again and start over another way??
thanks
