Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a MFP m428fdw printer that more often than not shows a white screen on the LCD panel upon bootup. This makes the device totally unusable.  I have tried all the recommended things to solve this issue, but no luck. I have heard that this could be related to a firmware version. My version is 2118A.00. I am trying to down grade the firmware to 2014, but can't find it anywhere. Anyone know where I can get the earlier firmware so I can do a downgrade?  Thanks!

OK - think I've figured it out. I needed to say YES to the 'allow updates'  selection. So, I disabled the WiFi connection so it couldn't download the newest update, then I updated the firmware to the 1924 version, then selected NO to allow updates and then re-activated WiFi. It is all cool now... SO far it seems to be working. Only time will tell, I guess. Thanks Guys! Hopefully you have brought my printer back to life 🙂

Let me know if you don't find the 2014 version, I have in my archive even older version 1924 can upload for you.

Thanks! I'd really appreciate getting either (or both)  versions - at this point the printer is a brick when the LCD panel goes out. HP doesn't seem to post previous versions anywhere...

First, you need to get your printer Ready, without that you will not be able to downgrade.

Use 7zip to extract firmware from exe. its .ful2 extension:

ful2.png

You can download firmware from here.

Save .ful2 file to USB stick, insert USB to printers from USB port under the screen you get a firmware icon within few seconds after printer reads firmware.

Run firmware from the screen and the printer will initialize with older firmware version.

Just a quick addition. Make sure that you disable automatic updates once you have downgraded or the printer will update itself again.

Still running into some problems trying to downgrade this beast. I said NO to allow updates, and YES to allow downgrades. Then I inserted a USB stick with only the 1924 firmware on it into the usb port below the LCD panel. The printer reads it, and gives me an option to print or scan to the stick. It doesn't recognize the firmware  at all. And that's where I currently am... I also can not find a setting that says to disable automatic updates anywhere on the menue, just do allow updates or not. Any idea what I'm doing wong?

I'm having the same problem. All the firmware software says I'm up to date. I set up the machine and now have a white screen. I am about to print from my laptop and cell however.

Follow the downgrade instructions if you are able to get the printer to come to ready.

Hi I don't find any older firmware including 2014. However, I am hesitant installing any older firmware and firmware that is not supplied by HP. Why downgrading introducing other issues which were fixed by the lastest firmware just to get rid of the issue of showing a white printer panel. I am more interested in learning what HP has done since June 2021 for actually fixing this issue ? Any insights?
