My Deskjet 2710e prints out 3 copies of whatever is printing even though it is set to 1. the only way to stop it is to cancel the current print job and to switch printer off and on again. the print pages count under printer settings is set to 1.

Hi @morvynf,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2710e prints multiple copies of a document even though it is set to print one page. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and stop the repeated printing.

Cancel all stuck print jobs
Open the print queue and cancel all documents listed.
A stalled or duplicated job in the queue can resend pages repeatedly.

Restart the Print Spooler service
Restarting clears hidden or looping print commands.
After restarting, try printing a single-page test again.

Check copies setting in both the app and printer driver
In the print window, confirm Copies = 1.
Also open Printer Properties → Preferences and verify copies are not set there as well.

Disable “Collate” and advanced copy options
Turn off Collate, Repeat pages, or similar options if shown.
These features can cause unintended duplicate prints.

Test printing from a different application
Print the same file from another app (for example, Notepad or PDF viewer).
This helps determine whether the issue is app-specific.

Remove and re-add the printer
Go to Devices and Printers, remove the DeskJet 2710e, then restart the computer.
Add the printer again to refresh its configuration.

Check for multiple printer instances
Ensure only one DeskJet 2710e is installed in Devices and Printers.
Multiple instances can send the same job more than once.

Update or reinstall the printer driver
Install the latest HP full-feature driver or HP Smart app.
Corrupt or generic drivers can cause repeated print jobs.

Restart the printer properly
Turn the printer off, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in.
This clears the printer’s internal memory.

I hope this helps.
