HP DeskJet 2855e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I just got my hp printer today and hooked it up and it is wireless and everything looked like it was hooked up fine.  I even printed out the report pages.  But when I tried to print out a report - nothing - I could not print anything.  I downloaded hp print smart and hp and everything is ok except I did get a code - "Your printer has experienced an unexpected configuration problem 0x80004005".    Why couldn't HP Smart fix it?

Can some one tell me what this is?  How to fix it.

Hi @redheadedgigi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your new HP DeskJet 2800e All-in-One printer is connected wirelessly and prints reports, but you are unable to print documents due to the error “Your printer has experienced an unexpected configuration problem – 0x80004005.” Let’s go through a few steps to fix this.

1. Restart Devices

Turn off your printer and shut down your computer.

Wait 30 seconds, then power on the printer and PC again.

Ensure the Wi-Fi light on the printer is steady before trying to print.

2. Check Default Printer

Press Win + R, type control printers and press Enter.

Right-click your HP DeskJet 2800e and select Set as default printer.

3. Run Windows Troubleshooter

Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.

Select your printer → Manage > Run the troubleshooter.

Follow on-screen instructions to fix any detected issues.

4. Remove & Reinstall the Printer

In Printers & Scanners, remove the DeskJet 2800e.

Download the Full Feature Software and Drivers from HP’s official site (HP Drivers).

Reinstall using HP Smart and re-add your printer to the PC.

5. Restart Print Spooler Service

Press Win + R, type services.msc and hit Enter.

Find Print Spooler, right-click → Restart.

Double-click Print Spooler → ensure Startup type = Automatic.

6. Test Print

After reinstalling, try printing a document or test page.

If successful, the error should be resolved.

I hope this helps.
