Hi @Seage1630,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP OfficeJet 5258 All-in-One Printer is showing as idle and not printing, you can try the following steps to reactivate it:
Check Printer Connection:
- Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely plugged in. For wireless connections, verify that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
Restart Printer and Computer:
- Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
- Restart your computer to refresh the connection between the devices.
Set Printer as Default:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Click on your HP OfficeJet 5258 and select Set as default.
Check Printer Status:
- In Printers & scanners, click on the printer and then click Open queue.
- Ensure there are no pending print jobs that might be causing an issue. If there are, cancel all the jobs and try printing again.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for the HP OfficeJet 5258 compatible with Windows 11.
- Install the new drivers, and restart your computer if necessary.
Run the Printer Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Printer, then click Run the troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.
Check Printer Settings:
- Open the HP Smart app or the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix any issues with your printer.
- Make sure the printer is not in offline mode. In the Open queue window, go to Printer > Use Printer Offline and ensure it is unchecked.
Update Windows:
- Ensure that your Windows 11 operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updating Windows can resolve compatibility issues with devices.
