I installed a set of new color cartridges into my printer after it requested me to do so.  A message came up telling me to reinstall or replace the black ink cartridge, which I replaced the day before. After reinstalling the black cartridge, the same message kept coming up. I bought another black cartridge because the message also said if the message reappears change the cartridge. When I changed the black cartridge a massage came up telling me that the colored cartridges were depleted and needed to be changed. I bought another set of colored cartridges and installed them, the black cartridge; again, indicated that it needed to be changed. Can someone please assist me with my dilemma?

Welcome to HP support community.

Clean the ink cartridge contacts

  1. Turn the printer on.

  2. Open the door to access to the ink cartridges.

  3. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.

  4. Push in on the front of the ink cartridge indicated in the error message, and then remove it.

  5. Wipe the electrical contact on the ink cartridge with a lint-free cloth.

  6. Insert the ink cartridge into its color-coded slot until it snaps into place.

  7. Repeat these steps for any other ink cartridges indicated in the error message.

  8. Close the ink cartridge access door.
