my landline only rings once when phone line is connected to fax

Hi, so the phone line is connected to the printer, so we can send and receive faxes, however, recently our phone only rings once and then disconnects. I did disconnect the phone line from the printer, and it was working fine again, is there any way to fix this? Thank you!!

If the phone is disconnecting due to line damage, because of the fax phone cable, or other "physical" ailment, the following won't help.

If the disconnect is happening due to the way in which the fax setups are adjusted, you might be able to untangle it.

Unlikely...if your landline phones have batteries for charging the handsets, check to make sure each of the handsets is charging as expected.  Misplaced handsets or a handset that is faulty or not charging properly, might cause weird problems.
