Hi @ananya_27,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding power issues on the HP Pavilion Plus 14-inch laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Battery Connection:

  • Ensure that the battery is properly seated and connected. If the battery is removable, try reseating it.

Test with and without the charger:

  • Power on the laptop with the charger connected and observe any changes. Then, try powering on without the charger to see if the issue persists, which helps identify if the problem is battery-related.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect all peripherals and turn off the laptop.
  • Remove the power adapter and, if accessible, the battery.
  • Hold the power button down for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reattach the battery and power adapter, then power on the laptop.

Battery Health Check:

  • Use HP Support Assistant to run a battery health check. This can identify if the battery is failing and needs replacement.

Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • Ensure that the BIOS and device drivers are up to date. Updates can sometimes resolve power management issues.
  • Use HP Support Assistant or manually check for updates on the HP Support Website.

Inspect for Overheating:

  • Ensure the laptop vents are not blocked and that the device is not overheating, as thermal issues can cause shutdowns.

Check Power Adapter and Battery:

  • Ensure the power adapter is functioning correctly and is providing power to the device.
  • If possible, test with another compatible HP adapter to see if the battery charges and the unit powers on normally.

I hope this helps.
