I am trying to put desk jet 2810 on to my laptop by wireless. I have removed all of the old HP apps but my laptop still picks my old one.

@Trudy-28, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like your laptop is still detecting the old HP printer installation even after you’ve removed the previous apps. Here’s a step-by-step guide to fully remove the old printer connection and set up the HP DeskJet 2810 wirelessly:

Step 1: Remove Printer from Windows Settings

Click the Start button and then select Settings (the gear icon).

In the Settings menu, click on Devices.

Select Printers & Scanners from the left sidebar.

Find the old printer (it might have a different name than your DeskJet 2810) in the list, click on it, and then choose Remove Device.

Step 2: Clear Printer Drivers (if necessary)

Sometimes the drivers remain installed even after you remove the printer. To ensure everything is clean:

Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type control printers and press Enter.

This will open the Devices and Printers window. Right-click on any old printer and choose Remove device.

If you see an icon for your DeskJet printer, delete it as well.

Step 3: Uninstall Old HP Software

You mentioned removing old HP apps, but it's worth checking if there are remnants in the system:

Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

Look for any HP software, such as HP Smart, HP Printer Software, or anything related to your old printer.

Uninstall these if they are still there.

Step 4: Restart Your Computer

After clearing out any old software and printer settings, restart your laptop to ensure any remaining printer configurations are reset.

Step 5: Install HP DeskJet 2810 Wirelessly

Refer this guide: HP printer setup (Wi-Fi network) | HP® Support

Step 6: Add Printer to Windows

If you prefer not to use HP Smart and want to manually add the printer:

Open Settings again.

Go to Devices > Printers & Scanners.

Click on Add a Printer or Scanner and let Windows search for your printer. When it appears, click on it and select Add device.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
