Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Can you try this:

Please follow these steps to launch the installer:

  1. Click the Search (magnifying glass at Taskbar) icon and type %temp%into the Search bar, then open the shown %temp% folder.
  2. Open the latest HP installation folder which begins with 7z (e.g. 7zs1234)  - You can also check the date code that you downloaded the Printer software file.
  3.  Double-click on HPSetup.exe to install the printer.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the %temp%

I did as onstructed - it took 203 minutes to download and exactly the same result - pc sees the fax and scan - does not see the printer - but does see some e-printer I do not own nor have installed

This is rediculous - not even a test print page like every other printer does.

Now to be clear - I have two other laptops that work and use this priter with zero issues

Is ther not a direct tech help line to HP? like every other manufacturr has?

also - this is a result of an HP update that I was forced into - it popped up on my screen , and locked my laptop up until I hit the download button - and nothign has worked properly since as it crashed half way through whatever it was doing.

if that helps

Hi

Can you try this:

* *Note that if there are other printers installed, these will need to be reinstalled after this.

• Press WINDOWS-R on the keyboard to bring up the Run window, type in 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click OK.
• From the Start menu or the Start screen:
• Open Devices and Printers.

Step 5. Right click the Start menu and select Run.
Type Services.msc and press OK.
Locate and stop the Print Spooler service

Step 6. Browse to c:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers.
Rename W32X86 to W32x86.old
Rename x64 to x64.old
Note: if any of these folders fail to rename reboot your PC and then Continue following the steps starting from Step 5.

Step 7. Restart PC.

Step 8. Finally, reinstall the HP Software.

Hope that helps!

I do not have the knowledge to do this - never mind I should not have to be playing around in the PC registry in order to fix HP's problems

I have no idea how to do the requested backup etc

has to be a better solution than this????????

thanks for the help

Hi @Seeker1056

THe steps are safe, others have done it and resolved their issues.

Having said that, other way is to uninstall and reinstall (not delete the printers icon)

How to Uninstall Download & Reinstall a Printer software

We're running out of options.

Hope that helps!

Thank you - I have already done the delete and reinstall twice - doesnt work.

and it doesnt answer the question as to why I have a printer i do not own, being an E-printer , now installed in place of my own printer since the forced HP update

You being an HP employess - might you explain why said update locked up my pc until I agreed to do the update, and why it didnt work??? Updates should not be mandatory nor should they take over the pc at any time???

As i said - safe or not - I do not know how to do backups, and such.

I am not trying to be difficult here - I just do not have the skillset to do registry backups and such  - I do not even know what that means??

Hi

Have you tried to check if the PC has an update that you can install (since it crashed halfway through)

Also, have you tried using the HP Smart apps? (download from Windows Store)

Thanks.
