Hi @Chris7510,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your Chromebook is having trouble recognizing your printer, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check Printer Compatibility: Ensure that your printer is compatible with Chromebook. Not all printers are compatible with Chrome OS, so it's essential to check the HP specifications or compatibility list.
Connectivity: Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromebook. Chromebooks typically require Wi-Fi for printing. If your printer supports Wi-Fi Direct, you may be able to connect directly to the printer without a network.
Enable Cloud Print: Chrome OS relies heavily on Google Cloud Print for printing. Ensure that Google Cloud Print is enabled on your Chromebook. You can do this by going to Settings > Advanced > Printing > Google Cloud Print > Manage Cloud Print devices.
Add Printer: On your Chromebook, go to Settings > Advanced > Printing > Add printers. Your printer should appear in the list of available printers if it's connected to the same network. Select your printer and follow the on-screen instructions to add it.
Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Check the HP website for firmware updates and instructions on how to install them.
Update Chrome OS: Make sure your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS. Updates can sometimes include fixes and improvements for printing issues.
Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting your Chromebook and printer can resolve connectivity issues.
Use Google Cloud Print App: If you're still having trouble, you can try using the Google Cloud Print app from the Chrome Web Store. This app can help troubleshoot and manage printer connections on Chrome OS.
Check Printer Settings: Ensure that your printer is set up correctly and ready to receive print jobs. Make sure there are no error messages or issues with ink or paper.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
