HI @dt1952,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the printer icon for your HP OfficeJet 8615 e-All-in-One is not displaying on your computer, it may be due to a few potential issues such as driver problems, connection issues, or permissions settings. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Step 1: Check Printer Connection
- Make sure your printer is powered on and ready.
- If the printer is connected via USB, ensure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the computer.
- If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, make sure it is connected to the same network as your computer.
Step 2: Restart Printer and Computer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart your computer to refresh the connection between the printer and the computer.
Step 3: Check Printer Driver Installation
- On your computer, go to the Control Panel.
- Click on Devices and Printers.
- Look for the HP OfficeJet 8615 icon. If it’s not there, it might indicate that the driver is not installed properly.
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest driver for your printer model.
- Follow the instructions to install the driver on your computer.
Step 4: Check Print Spooler Servic
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type services.msc and press Enter.
- In the Services window, scroll down and find Print Spooler.
Restart Print Spooler:
- Right-click on Print Spooler and select Restart.
Step 5: Set Printer as Default
- Go to Control Panel.
- Click on Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on the HP OfficeJet 8615 icon (if it appears).
- Select Set as default printer.
Step 6: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP Support website.
- Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix the issue.
Step 7: Check User Account Control (UAC) Settings
- Type UAC in the Windows search bar and select Change User Account Control settings.
- Ensure the slider is set to Default or a lower setting that allows you to make changes.
Step 8: Update Windows
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for any pending updates and install them.
Step 9: Check Firewall and Security Software:
- Temporarily disable any firewall or security software that might be blocking the printer communication.
- After disabling, check if the printer icon appears.
- Re-enable the firewall or security software after checking.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
