Hi @Sindy4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Looks like your printer’s screen decided to take a nap! 😴 Let’s wake it up and get it back to business so you can print with ease.

If the screen on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw is blank, there could be several causes, including power issues, firmware problems, or hardware malfunctions. Here are detailed troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

Check the Power Supply

  1. Verify the power cable:
    • Ensure that the printer is securely plugged into a working power outlet.
    • Check for any damage to the power cable. If you notice any issues, replace the power cable.
  2. Check the power button:
    • Press the power button for a few seconds to ensure it is properly turned on. The button should light up or show some indication of power.

Perform a Power Cycle

  1. Turn off the printer:
    • Press the power button to turn off the printer.
    • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet.
  2. Wait for 1-2 minutes:
    • Leave the printer unplugged for at least 1-2 minutes to reset the internal components.
  3. Plug the printer back in:
    • After waiting, plug the power cord back into the outlet and the printer.
  4. Turn on the printer:
    • Press the power button again and check if the screen lights up.

Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  1. Open the printer’s access panels:
    • Open the front and back doors to check for any paper jams or debris that could be obstructing the printer’s components.
  2. Clear any jams:
    • If you find paper stuck inside the printer, carefully remove it.
  3. Close the panels securely.
  1.

Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

If none of the previous step's work, you may want to reset the printer to its factory settings.

  1. Perform a hard reset:
    • Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds until the printer turns off completely.
    • Release the button and then turn the printer back on.
If this doesn’t resolve the issue, the printer might require a reset through its internal menus. You may need to consult the printer manual or HP support for the exact steps to perform a factory reset.

Check for Firmware Issues

Sometimes, a firmware glitch can cause the display to go blank.

  1. Check HP Support for firmware updates:
    • Go to the HP Support website and enter the model number for your printer.
    • Download and install the latest firmware for the printer. Follow the instructions on the site for updating the firmware.

Test with a Different Power Source

  1. Try a different outlet:
    • If you have access to another power outlet, plug the printer into that outlet to rule out power-related issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to either resolve the issue or determine whether you need further assistance. Let me know if you need help with any specific steps! 😊
