Hp Officejet pro 8710

Hello i'm a little new to this so i hoped i posted this in the right place.

A few days ago i bought a printer, the model is HP Officejet Pro 8710.

i hooked it up and installed all the software and i am able to scan perfectly and the print is able to print test sheets.

However when i go to a document say  a PDF or a Word doc and i try to print something it always asks me to save printer output. If i save it or click cancle it still does not print at all.

i have looked into this problem and i saw ways like change a certain setting to "print PDF" which for me still wont make it print.

if anyone has any help i really need this printer to be able to print.

thank you

Hello gamefreak501,

You just have the wrong default printer set, we can fix that.

So i downloaded the program from the link you sent me, i installed it and ran a scan on the printer. It fixed the problem i was having. However once i close the scan doctor program and i try to print something it does not work and goes back to asking me to save the file instead of print.

is there anyway to save the change or am i missing a step. thank you for your help

Just restart the program you were printing from, it should restart and update the default printer. I imagine you're talking about Chrome so just relaunch it.

i did restart the program but it still does not print in both google chrome and regular programs such as adobe or microsoft word. It did work 100% after i used the Doctor scan application but once i closed the program it went back to asking me to save

What is the printer called that it keeps printing to? Is it an application you've installed to print to PDF?

So when you open the print dialogue, which printer is selected by default?

i have been doing a lot of reading and i wonder if this helps. i am using windows 10 and i have heard that people are having problems with the printer working on windows 10 but the printer works on windows 7 or 8. i connected/sync my computer to the printing part of the machine for when i print

went threw all those steps and still no print. The printer recognizes the PC... its just printing... I think its an ink issue
