Hello mike3311,
I recently tried connecting my Win11 laptop to a WiFi network, but was having issues. I kept getting a "Cannot connect to this network" error, despite knowing the WiFi password. I had no problems connecting the same laptop when it was running Win10 (e.g. same drivers & hardware), but with Win11 it wouldn't connect.
This WiFi network password has an apostrophe character. Whenever I typed the password into the WiFi password prompt, it kept failing. However, when I typed the password into Notepad++ then copy/pasted it into password prompt, it connected properly.
When pressing the ' key in the Win11 WiFi password prompt, does Win11 use a Unicode apostrophe (‘ or ’) instead of an ASCII apostrophe (')? If so, this would be a change from Win10... Also, I assume that double quotes (“ or ” vs. ") have the same issue?
While one can probably set up a WiFi password with the Unicode quote characters, only the ASCII versions are available on Android, Roku, and Fire TV on-screen keyboards. I can see this causing some unnecessary headaches & support calls if this is the case. If so, this is a bug that needs a fix...
Excellent Day.
