Hello @BobC50 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
You need to download this SW package first "HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories ".
Then uninstall the entire printer SW and finally reboot once.
Now install the complete SW package.
