Is there a print driver for a  HP Laserjet P2055dn that supports a Mac OS Sequoia v 15.5?

Appreciate you connecting with the HP Community.

I completely understand the feeling — your trusty HP LaserJet P2055dn is sitting right beside you, lights glowing softly, but your Mac on Sequoia v15.5 just stares back blankly. It’s like two old friends suddenly speaking different languages.

Right now, HP hasn’t released an official driver that fully supports Sequoia v15.5. When you check HP’s site, the list stops before the newer macOS versions — leaving this printer in a quiet corner.

But don’t worry — there’s still life in it. You can gently coax it back into action using AirPrint, Generic PostScript Printer, or even the Gutenprint open-source driver.

Here’s what you can try:

  1. Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners → Add Printer.

  2. If the P2055dn appears, select AirPrint (for network connection) or Generic PostScript Printer.

  3. If it doesn’t, install Gutenprint, then try adding the printer again — macOS will recognize it with basic print functions.

  4. For smoother detection, connect via Ethernet rather than USB.

You might lose duplex and toner status options for now, but the printer will still hum back to life, printing crisp pages once again.

Until HP releases an updated driver for Sequoia, these options are the best way to keep your printer running — not perfectly, but faithfully.

I am an HP Employee. Although I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
