@cs176, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To get your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 working with macOS 26.0.1 (Tahoe), follow these steps:

Step 1: Use AirPrint (Recommended for macOS)

macOS 26.0 supports AirPrint, which is built into the system and allows printing and scanning without needing to install separate drivers.

To set up your printer using AirPrint:

  1. Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
  2. On your Mac, go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  3. Click the + button to add a printer.
  4. Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 from the list.
  5. Ensure the Use field shows AirPrint. If not, select it manually.
  6. Click Add.

You should now be able to print and scan using built-in macOS apps like Preview and Image Capture.

Step 2: Install the HP Smart App/HP App (Optional but Useful)

The HP Smart app provides additional features like scanning, printer management, and ink monitoring.

To install:

  • Download it from the Mac App Store.
  • After installation, enable Local Network permissions:
    • Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
    • Make sure HP Smart is toggled ON.
  • Restart your Mac and launch the app.

Step 3: HP Support Page (For Reference)

Although HP may not list macOS 26.0.1 directly, you can still check for firmware updates or other utilities: Official HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
