Hi @flowerlover,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

For older printers like the HP Photosmart C4400, HP may not provide updated drivers for newer operating systems, but there are a few ways to try getting it working.

Steps to Try:

HP Universal Print Driver:

  • HP provides a Universal Print Driver that may work for your Photosmart C4400. You can download it from the HP support page.
  • Look for the "Universal Print Driver" and install it. Follow the prompts to add your printer.

Check Windows Built-in Drivers:

  • Windows may automatically install built-in drivers for older printers.
  • Connect your printer to the computer via USB and let Windows search for and install a compatible driver.
  • You can check by going to:
    • Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners > Add a printer or scanner.

Use Windows Update:

  • If the driver doesn’t install automatically, you can try installing drivers through Windows Update.
  • Go to Device Manager, find the printer, right-click, and select Update driver.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose issues and automatically install the necessary drivers.

Compatibility Mode (if available):

  • Download the driver for an older version of Windows (like Windows 7 or 😎 from HP's website.
  • Install the driver in compatibility mode by:
    • Right-clicking the setup file, selecting Properties > Compatibility.
    • Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select an older version of Windows.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
