HP Deskjet 2540
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello on my HP Deskjet 2540 there is no A5 paper size in the paper sizes list proposed in avanced printing settings.

So when I want to print,on a A5 paper sheet, a text document whose paper size is defined as A5 (for example a .doc document from Word), I have to choose the nearest paper size , which is 6x8", but it is not very covenient because it is not chosen automatically and I have to select it in printing settings options for each printing.

Is there a solution ?

All my pilots are update.

If you have not done so,

Download, save, and install the Full Feature Software

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

Consider installing the printer Firmware

READ all instructions before installing the firmware

If / After the firmware is installed, Restart the computer and log in

If your printer supports  Creating Custom Paper Sizes you can create a custom form for your A5 paper size.  The document includes a video to assist and the basic how-to setup.

If the custom form setup is available, find it:

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >

Left-Click on your Printer one time to highlight >

Left-Click Print Server properties

After the custom form is created, Restart the computer and log in

If you like, create a new shortcut for your preferred settings to be used with future print jobs:

Print Driver Settings Guide (Windows)

Section:  Saving preferred print settings as a new shortcut or as defaults for all print jobs

Hi,

If you still experience issues please set an alternate driver as following and check for any change:

  1. From the Control Panel select Devices and Printers.
  2. Right click the listed printer icon and select Printer Properties.
  3. Within the Ports tab, take a note of the selected port and press Cancel.
  4. From the top pane select Add a printer.
  5. Press the printer that I want isn't listed.
  6. Select the last option to add a local printer and press Next.
  7. Select the same port as used by your printer from the Existing ports list and press Next.
  8. within the manufacturer pane select HP.
  9. within the printers liss select HP Deskjet 6940, if a such is not listed select HP Deskjet 6520 Class Driver and press Next.
  10. Follow the steps to complete the Wizard, rename the print queue as you like while completing the wizard.

Once you are done print using the added alternate driver, that should offer A5.

The paper size will be within the Paper tab or in the Advanced dialog (an Advanced button should be at the bottom of teh printing preferences pane), depanding on the used printer model..

Shlomi

Thanks, @ShlomiL

I have (again) updated my notes on this printer... perhaps this time the notes will "stick" in place.  Smiling.
