I have the same problem with my Mac ans Mac OS 10.13.6. LaserJet P1102W is recognized as a scanner.. and when I connect the printer to the USB port, a message saying "disk you insert is not readable by this computer" is displayed with "ignore" and "eject" buttons.

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
The error occur if the printer is detected as a disc driver on your Mac. This happens when the HP Smart Install feature is enabled, which is used to installs the printer software automatically on Windows PC. By disabling HP Smart Install on the printer, mac should no longer recognize the printer as a disc drive. Please use the solution available in this post and disable HP Smart Install on your printer.
Once you disable smart install, connect the printer to Mac using a USB cable and then use the steps below to add a compatible driver:
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign
to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button
at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign
, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
6.) Try to print and scan.
Let me know how it goes!
