HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e Wide Format All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Hi, the configuration of my printer seem ok, no errors appears when printing action, but I got no results, no print. The only printing I got is the one from alignment process, which was ok. I am even no able to do a local copy, that normal must not need the computer (direct scan-->print).

In practice my OS is MacOS Sonoma 14.6 (no listed here)

@philmas, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e is not printing, scanning, or even copying locally on macOS Sonoma 14.6. Let's walk through a few steps to isolate and resolve the issue.

Step 1: Check Printer Hardware (Local Copy Test)

Since even local copy (which doesn't require a computer) isn't working:

  • Ensure the printer is powered on and not showing any error messages.
  • Try copying a document directly from the scanner glass using the Copy button on the printer.
  • If this fails, it indicates a hardware or firmware issue.

Try a power reset:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug it back in and power it on.

If copying still fails, I recommend updating the firmware (see Step 4).

Step 2: Reinstall HP Smart & Reset Printing System (macOS)

  1. Uninstall HP Smart from your Mac.
  2. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  3. Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose “Reset printing system…”.
  4. Reboot your Mac.
  5. Reinstall HP Smart for macOS from the App Store.
  6. Re-add your printer using HP Smart.

Step 3: Check Network & AirPrint

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
  • On the printer, print a Wireless Network Test Report from the control panel to confirm connectivity.
  • On your Mac, go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners and check if the printer is listed as AirPrint.

If not, remove and re-add the printer using AirPrint or HP Smart.

Step 4: Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause printing and scanning issues.

  1. On the printer, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
  2. Or, update via HP Smart app under Advanced Settings.

Step 5: Test with HP Diagnostic Tools

Use HP Smart’s Diagnose & Fix tool:

  • Open HP Smart > Click “Printer Status” > Select “Diagnose & Fix”.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
