office jet pro7740 envelope printing problem

Using the envelope printing feature in Microsoft Word with this printer is producing poor results.  When the envelopes are loaded into the printer tray as shown  in the schematic on the tray (face down with top of envelope to the left), the result is the addresses are printed upside down on the envelope.  If the envelopes are rotated 180 degrees so the top of the envelope is to the right but still face down, the addresses will print right side up on the envelopes but the print quality is extremely poor.  The addresses look as if they were printed with a cheap dot matrix printer.  I tried reinstalling the drivers but that did not change anything.

That does sound odd --

And, yes - the proper way to load envelopes is as illustrated in the user manual.

True - The Full Feature Software must be installed to print from within Word.

and...

Perhaps check the Printer Properties --

Make sure the Driver is set to the HP driver (and not the IPP / Microsoft Driver)

The HP driver is better suited to the task.

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Select Printer >

Printer Properties > Tab Advanced
