Product: Officejet 5746
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Whenever I try to install the drivers for my Officejet 5746, I get an error message that says there is a problem with the package and the error code is 2753.  Does anyone know what this means?

 

I am about to return my printer to Costco.

I understand that you are trying to install an HP Officejet 5746 e-All-in-One Printer on a Windows 7 computer but are unable to because "there is a problem with the package and the error code is 2753". I would like to help.

 

It is not an error that we see here very much, but in a search for a solution I found this post on the Microsoft Community Forums that may help - Error 2753 Preventing Uninstall/Reinstall.

 

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Thanks for your help!!! Using the info on the link and from another forum I was able to get my printer to work. These are the steps I used.

1. Uninstall HP office jet software
2. Perform a L3 and L4 deletion from the CD
3. Download and run CCleaner
4. Click on registry and fix all problems in CCleaner
5. Download the Officejet 5740 basic driver
6. Install basic driver and follow instructions
