HP OfficeJet Pro 8024 All-in-One Printer

Hi have a officejet pro 8024 , nightmare!

Printer wont except the latest updates, message in screen  'The printer update could not be downloaded' tried retry/cancel tabs, useless.

Been in touch with hp call centre, eventually they took over my screen downloaded three driver/firmware files that are not available to jo public; they tried to upload these to the printer via usb cable did not recognize printer despite HP smart App recognizing all connections. told me to replace usb cable just in case faulty. This i did, still the same problem. HP answer wait until the latest soft comes out for this issue. Confused as i say nightmare .

Any help out there?

Hi @jim1810,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8024 printer. Issues with firmware updates can be frustrating, but let's try some troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem.

  • Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the internet and has a stable connection. You can try restarting your router and the printer to establish a fresh connection.
  • Printer Restart: Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve temporary glitches. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn on the printer and see if the update process works now.
  • Firmware Update via Computer: Instead of updating the firmware directly from the printer, you can try updating it from your computer. Go to the HP support website and look for the latest firmware update for your OfficeJet Pro 8024 model. Download the update to your computer and then follow the instructions to install it on your printer via a USB connection.
  • Clear Printer Cache: Sometimes, the printer's cache can cause issues with updates. To clear the cache, go to the printer's settings, find the option for "Clear Printer Cache" or something similar, and proceed with it.
  • Check for Error Codes: If the printer shows any error codes, note them down, as they might provide more specific information about the issue. You can then look up these error codes on the HP support website or contact HP support directly for assistance.
  • Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. However, keep in mind that this will reset all settings, including network configuration, so you'll need to set up the printer again from scratch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
