Officejet pro 8210
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We have a least 6 Officejet Pro 8210 printers and they are used as stand alone desktop printers on employees desks.  When we had Windows 7 they seemed to work fine, now that the company has moved to Windows 10 they all have the same problem.  Prints get caught in the print que and wont print.

I have  emptied the spool and then stop/restart the print spooler to clear the queue and print again.  I have looked through pages of this topic on this site and have tried many of the suggested fixes like stopping the spooler and empting the printers folder in wondows/system32 . .etc   Didnt work

Uninstalled the driver and installed the most recent driver on HP's site. . . .The official drivers (Basic, PCL 6, Full and Universal) do not work correctly . . .that didnt work.

the company isnt going to go by new printers just because print jobs are getting stuck in the que

Is there a solution out there for this . . .

Hi @gblock66

  • I would like to know how is the printer connected to the computer? (Wireless/USB)
  • Are you getting any error message when you are trying to print?

Provide me the above information to help you with an accurate solution.

Looking forward to your reply.

I have a client with the same issue. The printer is attached directly to her Windows 10 via USB. When she prints documents, they get stuck in the print queue.  I have tried the steps from: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-8210-printer-series/7902063/document/c02205477. The Print Doctor said it fixed some things and the test page printed. I tried printing other documents and they just got hung up in the queue again. No errors in the queue. Please adivse what the next steps are?

Greetings @NoneYaBiz

Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are unable to print from your computer running on Windows 10, is that right?

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Request you to follow the exact procedure mentioned below to uninstall the printer software and settings from your computer and then installing it back.

The procedure might look complicated but will resolve the issue you are facing.

Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)

Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.

Click on print server properties.

You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.

Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.

Restart the PC.

Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,

Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.

It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).

If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party applications such as revo, ccleaner, etc.

Restart the PC again.

Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

Let me know if this helped.

To those that posted here last year, I expect that your HP Officejet Pro 8210 printer(s) is/are in the bin.

For the benefit of anyone else searching for the same problem, here is the solution that I've just posted in a couple of other threads in this forum.

If you search the HP forums, you can find this problem going back to November 2016, yet HP do not seem to know the answer.  I am an IT professional with 20 years experience but I have spent 5 HOURS trying to fix the Officejet Pro 8210 that we installed on a customer's new Windows 10 PC last week!

Today, I went back to their office and spent more time on it.  I had already downloaded the latest 'basic' driver and the latest 'full' driver and also downloaded and installed the latest firmware update. Don't waste your time doing this - it doesn't help!

I called HP tech support, who tried troubleshooting by remote control, then told me that it was a known issue at HP and it was caused by a recent Windows 10 update.  I now find that the issue has been happening for others since 2016, so that wasn't true.  They told me to call Microsoft.  I then called Microsoft, who also couldn't work it out.

Then i downloaded and installed the HP Universal Print Driver.  Problem solved.

From reading the forums, it appears that this problem only occurs when printing via USB.  However, even though HP have known about it for ages, they haven't corrected the Windows 10 driver for this model.

I hope this helps you.
