Hi @mchawk,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Verify Paper Size in Printer Settings:

  • On your printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Paper Setup.
  • Ensure the paper size is set to 4x6 inches.

Check Paper Type:

  • Also, ensure that the paper type is set to Glossy Photo Paper.

Load Paper Correctly:

  • Confirm that the 4x6 inch paper is loaded correctly into the paper tray.
  • The paper should be placed with the glossy side facing down.
  • Ensure the paper guides are snug against the papers without bending them.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your HP OfficeJet 3835. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support page.

Print Settings on Computer:

  • On your computer, open the document or image you want to print.
  • Go to Print Setup or Page Setup within the application you are using.
  • Ensure that the paper size is selected as 4x6 inches and the paper type is set to Glossy Photo Paper.

Use HP Smart App:

  • If you are using the HP Smart app, ensure the paper size and type settings are correctly set there as well.
  • Open the HP Smart app, select your printer, go to Print Options, and set the paper size to 4x6 inches and type to Glossy Photo Paper.

I hope this helps.
