HP Office Jet 8715
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I am trying to configure my HP Office Jet 8715 printer so that I can scan directly to a network folder.  On the embedded Web server, I've entered the path multiple ways: //NetBIOS Name/users/username/directory name, or //IPaddress/users/username/directory_name, or //<IPAddress_or_Name>/sharedfoldername.  I've created a user with the name of the printer (HPB8ECCE) and a password on the iMac and I've shared the folder on the iMac as Write only (Dropbox).

I can ping the printer from the iMac. I can print and scan from the embedded Web server.  I've tried logging in with and without credentials.  Without credentials, the error is "Network error. Check the printer's network connection and try again."   With credentials, the error is "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again."  It's the same with or without a PIN.

Any suggestions or is this just an unsupported product "feature?"

Hi,

You should use the following form for the path:

\\COMPUTERNAME.local\ShareName

\\IP Address]ShareName (e.g. \\10.0.0.5\scan)

Please follow below support document, the steps are similar for your printer:
