Running Mac OS 10.13 with Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M283cdw through the HP Smart app. The app has defaulted to the documents folder. How do I change the default to the folder I actually most use?

HP Smart allows changing the scan destination for the current scan saving, you cannot change the default location from Documents.

Instead, you can try using the HP Easy Scan App. Follow the steps below-

Download and install the HP Easy Scan app from the App Store, and then open the app.

HP easy scan > preferences

When preferences open up you have a General tab and a Scan to my computer tab (at least there is on mine)

On scan to my computer there select the action you want to edit, for me it was saved as pdf. then on the lower right select edit.  from there a popup will allow you to select the default folder.

Try scanning.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
