My PC, laptop, and notebook all have this persistent outdated driver that keeps popping up to be installed.  See below.   It's been installed dozens of times and still keeps appearing.  It popped up again as I was installing the current Windows10 update.  I've used HP Support Assistant to try to trouble-shoot and fix this but it found nothing.  How can I get rid of it???

Hi,

Please look for any Unknown Device instance within the Printers section, I believe you should likely be able to remove it from there and no longer get this update:

Please lrt em know

Hi Shlomi,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I did find an unknown device listed in the Settings/Printers section on my laptop but not on my other devices.  See screen below.

Coincidentally, a Windows10 Cumulative Update was applied yesterday.  After that, this persistent HP driver did not appear on my other devices but has remained on my laptop.  See screen print.below.

I will apply the current Window10 Cumulative Update on my laptop and see if this problem remains.

I will keep you posted.

Thanks again. Take care & stay safe ... VJ

Hi Shlomi,

OK, the problem is partially fixed but I can live with it.

During the Windows10 & other Windows systems updates (NET Framework, security, etc), the persistent HP driver would pop-up and go away.  After the last reboot, the persistent HP driver still showed in the Windows Update pane.  See first screen print..

Per your suggestion, I removed the unknown device listed in my Windows Printers Settings.  After rebooting, the persistent HP driver no longer showed in the Windows Update panel.  However, if I performed the Check for updates function, the persistent HP driver would show up and install.  See 2nd & 3rd screen prints.

So and as I said in the beginning, I can live with this result and consider the problem fixed.

Thanks again for your help.  I will give you the Thumbs Up.

Take care & stay safe ... VJ
