Hi @yorkielanc,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Paper Size and Type:

  • Make sure the selected paper size and type in your print settings match the paper you're using. Photo paper settings should correspond to the specific dimensions of the paper loaded (e.g., 4x6 inches, 5x7 inches).

Printer Software Settings:

  • Check the printer software settings on your computer to ensure that the image size is correctly set to fit the page.
  • If using software like HP Smart or other photo editing applications, verify the layout options to make sure the photo is not restricted to center alignment.

Borderless Printing:

  • For photos, you might want to enable borderless printing if it is not already enabled. Go to the printer properties or preferences on your computer and select borderless printing to ensure the image uses the whole page.

Paper Alignment:

  • Ensure the paper is correctly aligned in the input tray. The paper guides should be adjusted snugly against the edges of the paper without exerting too much pressure.

Print Preview:

  • Use the print preview function in your software to check how the image will be printed. This can indicate if any adjustments need to be made before printing.

Printer Calibration:

  • You may consider calibrating the printer if you suspect misalignment or print quality issues. Refer to your printer's manual on how to perform alignment tests or clean the printheads.

Software Update:

  • Update the printer driver and software to ensure all settings are working correctly. Visit the HP website for the latest drivers specific to your HP Photosmart 5520.

I hope this helps.
