When not using my printer shuts down. I have to unplug then re-plug for it to work.  I'm sure there is a setting I need to set but where???? Thanks for your help. 🙄

Hi @DarofWA2

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

 

If there is no activity on the printer for 15minutes, it may go to sleep mode. The light on the power button will be blinking.

If there is no activity for 2 hours, the printer will shut down completely as per design.

For more info on sleep mode and auto-off features, refer to this document.

 

Let us check the settings on the printer:

 

On the printer screen, go to Setup > ECO > Sleep > Set it to max time as required.

Go back to ECO > Auto-Off > select the required option.

 

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.
