HP ENVY Pro 6475 All-In-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I hate the AUTO SHUTOFF feature on  this printer.  I send "print" requests from all over my house on my phone.  If the printer has shut itself OFF or put itself to SLEEP, then I have to run two flights downstairs before I can print which is extremely inconvenient when I'm in middle of a work mode and need to move on to print something else.

ALSO, the printer Settings says the auto shutoff  ": This feature is automatically disabled when the printer is connected to a computer or mobile device, a network, or a fax line (if supported)."

My printer is connected to my home network so why isn't it disabled?

Also, it says to press the POWER button to turn printer back on but my power button has NEVER worked.  I have to unplu and replug the printer to start it again.

Suggestions?

Hi @wyomingnan2,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing some frustration with the auto shutoff feature and the power button functionality on your HP ENVY Pro 6475 All-In-One Printer. Let's address each of your concerns:

Auto Shutoff Feature:

  • The auto shutoff feature is designed to conserve energy by automatically turning off the printer when it's not in use for a certain period. However, it seems like this feature is causing inconvenience for you, especially when you send print requests remotely.
  • According to the printer settings, the auto shutoff feature should be disabled when the printer is connected to a computer, mobile device, or network. Since your printer is connected to your home network, it should ideally remain active. However, it seems like this feature might not be working as intended.
  • One possible solution could be to check the printer settings to ensure that the auto shutoff feature is indeed disabled when connected to the network. You may also want to update the printer firmware to the latest version, as sometimes firmware updates include fixes for such issues.

Power Button Issue:

  • It's concerning that the power button on your printer has never worked, forcing you to unplug and replug the printer to start it again. This indicates a hardware issue with the power button itself.
  • Since the power button is not functioning as expected, you may check with the Hp phone support for repair options.

In summary, to address your concerns:

  • Check the printer settings to ensure that the auto shutoff feature is disabled when connected to the network.
  • Consider updating the printer firmware to the latest version. Click Here

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
