In May of 2025 I purchased a new HP 655e printer from Staples in Grandville MI.   Attempts to install the printer kept failing becuase of "Driver not Available",   I finally contacted HP technical support.  They that it could not be provided because of IP address issues.   I asked if they could correct/clear the issue.  They said they could but it would cost me $170.00 ,  I agree and the printer was made operational.  That is until last week when I need to print a document and the response with "printer not available".  Further diagnosis reflected "driver not available".   Can you help me understand what is happening and help restore my printer to operation?

Hi @Curis63,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear  sounds like you're having ongoing difficulties with your HP 655e printer, particularly related to driver and IP address issues:

Uninstall and Reinstall the Driver:

  • Open 'Device Manager' on your computer.
  • Find your printer, right-click, and select 'Uninstall device.'

Download Latest Driver:

  • Visit the HP Support Website and download the latest driver specific for your HP 655e printer.

Install the Driver:

  • Run the downloaded file and follow the installation instructions.

Check IP Address Configuration:

Set a Static IP Address:

  • Access your printer settings via the printer’s control panel.
  • Navigate to network settings and ensure the printer has a static IP address to avoid changes.

Reconfigure Wireless Settings (If Applicable):

  • Use the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer's control panel to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network again.
  • Ensure your computer and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool for diagnostics and automatic fixes.

Verify Printer Status:

  • Make sure your printer is set as the default printer.
  • Confirm it's not set as 'Use Printer Offline.'

Update Firmware (if necessary):

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up-to-date via the HP website.

Take care and have an amazing day!
