Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

after Windows update KB5015807, windows fax and scan could not complete scan from USB-attached HP2630 allin1 device.

The devioce still showe dup in devices and printers and in device manager as imaging device !!

i had to tediously remove all HP software except "HP photo creations" using "control panel" "programs and features" , delete the device form "devices and printers", reboot , then tediously reinstall the device after downloading and using:-

Full_Webpack-43.4.2486-DJ2600_Full_Webpack.exe

   AND

HPEasyStart_14_4_7.exe

A) why did the update cripple windows fax and scan communication with the HP2630 device?

B) is there no cleaner which uninstalls HP allin1 printers cleanly and reinstalls them?

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to scan after the windows update, I am glad to assist you.

This seems to be a driver issue, this happens if the driver is incorrectly installed.

Follow these steps to fix the issue:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install the printer using HP Smart app

(Note: Don't connect the USB cable in until prompted during the install.)

Keep me posted.

If this helps, please mark the public post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

what a stupid way to uninstall a printer and reinstall it

HP should be ashamed to suggest such a cumbersome, user unfriendly solution - see below - you have to uninstall all this bloatware

why can't HP supply an uninstaller?  afaik any decent software programmer should be able to automate all the process you described

windows updates from KB5014666 (including KB5015807) as well as KB5015878 were causing USB connected printers to not function correctly as confirmed by Microsoft:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-10-21h2#2869msgdesc

try installing the KB5016616 update, reboot and see if the HP2630 printer will scan correctly
