Microsoft Windows 11

When I open the advanced settings, the menu first appears to be normal but then partly goes blank and is unresponsive (accept for the cancel button on the bottom). Printing still works, but I can't adjust the advanced settings. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HP smart app, but that did not solve this issue. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks.

Hi @lzdkfvmaosiW84T,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like a frustrating issue with the HP Smart app. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Update the HP Smart App: Ensure you're using the latest version of the HP Smart app. Updates often fix bugs and compatibility issues.
  • Check for Printer Firmware Updates: Sometimes, outdated printer firmware can cause issues with the app. Check the HP website or the printer's control panel for any available updates.
  • Clear App Cache (if on mobile): If you're using a mobile device, clearing the app's cache might help. Go to your device’s settings, find the HP Smart app, and clear the cache.
  • Use a Different Device: Try accessing the advanced settings from a different device or computer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to one device.
  • Check for System Updates: Make sure your operating system is up-to-date, as sometimes updates can resolve compatibility issues with applications.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

While I appreciate your having posted this, it really doesn't address the issue in a way satisfactory to HP users who, like me, have printers that are no longer supported (mined is an OfficeJet 7740), since no updated firmware is available. It would be much more helpful for HP to make HP Smart backwards compatible with our printers. We are, after all, your customers.
