HI @kuinVQ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ST520 printer suddenly cannot connect to scan from your PC running Windows 10, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Restart Devices
- Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart of your computer can resolve connectivity issues.
2. Check Connection
- Verify Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your Windows 10 PC. If you are using a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and your computer.
3. Update Printer Drivers
- Check for Updates: Visit the HP Support website and enter your printer model (HP ST520). Download and install the latest printer drivers for Windows 10.
- Device Manager: Alternatively, you can update the printer drivers through Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select "Device Manager."Expand the "Print queues" or "Imaging devices" category.
- Right-click on your HP ST520 printer and select "Update driver."
4. Check Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) Service
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. In the Services window, locate "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" service.
- Right-click on it and select "Restart." If it's not running, right-click and select "Start."
5. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This utility can diagnose and resolve common scanning issues automatically.
6. Check Firewall and Security Software
- Temporarily disable firewall and antivirus software on your computer to see if they are blocking the scanner.Add exceptions or rules in your firewall settings to allow communication for the HP printer software.
7. Reinstall HP Printer Software
- Uninstall: Remove the HP printer software from your computer:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.Find your HP printer software, right-click on it, and select "Uninstall."
- Reinstall: Visit the HP Support website, download the latest software package for your HP ST520 printer, and reinstall it.
8. Check Scanner Settings
- On your Windows 10 PC, open the HP printer software or HP Smart app.Navigate to the scanner settings and ensure that the correct scanner is selected and configured properly.
9. Check for Windows Updates
- Make sure your Windows 10 operating system is up to date:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
