Hi @MG0800,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP printer is connected to the wrong wireless network and you're unable to connect it to the correct one. Here’s a step-by-step guide to reconfigure the wireless network on your printer.
Reset Network Settings on the Printer
- Most HP printers have an option to reset the wireless settings. This will remove any saved network connections and allow you to reconnect to the correct network.
- For HP printers with a touchscreen:
- Go to Settings or Wireless Settings.
- Select Restore Network Settings or Restore Default Settings.
- Confirm the reset.
- For printers without a touchscreen:
- Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button (for some models, it's the Power button) together for about 10 seconds until the wireless light starts blinking. This resets the network settings.
Reconnect the Printer to the Correct Network
- After resetting, you will need to reconnect the printer to your wireless network.
- For HP printers with a touchscreen:
- Go to Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Select your correct Wi-Fi network and enter your Wi-Fi password.
- For printers without a touchscreen:
- Use HP Smart App (on your mobile device or computer) or the WPS method:
- Using HP Smart App:
- Install and open the HP Smart app on your device.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer and connect it to the correct wireless network.
- Using WPS:
- Press the WPS button on your router.
- Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the light starts blinking.
- Wait for the printer to connect to the correct Wi-Fi network.
- Using HP Smart App:
- Use HP Smart App (on your mobile device or computer) or the WPS method:

Confirm Wireless Connectivity
- Once reconnected, print a Wireless Network Test Report to confirm that the printer is now on the correct network.
- For HP printers with a touchscreen:
- Go to Settings > Network > Print Network Configuration Page.
- For printers without a touchscreen:
- Press and hold the Wireless button and the Information button together to print the network configuration page.
Test the Printer
- Now, attempt to print from your computer or mobile device to ensure it connects properly to the printer.
If the USB connection is still not recognized after reconfiguring the wireless, there may be an additional issue with the USB driver, but resolving the network setup should restore wireless printing.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

printer is a Hp Laser pro M15W. computer is new . Trying to use the HP smart app. computer finds a printer, but says there is no driver for the printer. I have tried connecting both via USB & Wireless. I have downloaded both driver set up packages in support. neither will finish installing because it can not connect to printer either through USB or Wireless. I can print the configuration report which shows a different network. (not sure if it connected to the neighbors wifi??)

Hi @MG0800,
Thank you for your response,
Let's approach this systematically and address both the network connection and driver installation issues.
Hard Reset of Network Settings
Since your printer might be connected to a neighbor's Wi-Fi, resetting the network settings is crucial. Since your HP LaserJet Pro M15w doesn’t have a touchscreen, try these steps to reset the wireless settings:
- Reset the network settings on the printer:
- Power on the printer.
- Press and hold the Wireless button (or Wireless + Cancel button) until the Wireless light starts blinking (around 10-20 seconds).
- This will clear any existing network settings, and the printer will be ready to connect to a new network.
Reconnect to Your Wi-Fi
Once you've reset the network settings, follow one of the two methods below to connect the printer to your network:
Use HP Smart App to Connect to Wi-Fi
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Select "Add Printer."
- Follow the on-screen prompts to connect your printer to the correct Wi-Fi network.
If the HP Smart app doesn't find the printer after resetting the network, check if your computer and the printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
WPS Method (if available on your router)
- Press the WPS button on your router (usually available on most modern routers).
- Press and hold the Wireless button on your printer until the wireless light starts blinking.
- The printer should connect to your router automatically.
Download and Install the Correct Driver
Even though you’ve tried downloading the driver already, it’s important to ensure the correct one is installed and properly configured:
- Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the computer, and try using just the wireless connection for now.
- Uninstall any previously installed HP drivers from the computer.
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.
- Remove any instances of HP printer software/drivers.
- Restart your computer.
- Download the correct driver:
- Visit the HP support site for LaserJet Pro M15w and download the latest full driver and software package.
- Run the driver installer:
- When the driver installer prompts for a connection type, choose Wireless (not USB).

Confirm the Correct Wi-Fi Network
Once connected and drivers installed:
- Print a Network Configuration Report to confirm that the printer is now on your Wi-Fi network.
- Press and hold the Wireless button and the Information button together.
- Review the report to ensure the printer is connected to the correct network.
Additional USB Troubleshooting
If the wireless setup works but USB continues to fail:
- Try a different USB cable to rule out a faulty cable.
- Change USB ports on your computer to make sure the port isn't malfunctioning.
- Check Device Manager (on Windows) to ensure the printer is recognized:
- Right-click the Start menu and open Device Manager.
- Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers and look for any errors or unknown devices.
- If there are any issues, right-click and Uninstall, then Scan for hardware changes.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
