Tried to connect my MacBook to the printer, everything was good and it did connect but when I tried to add another device I lost the connection with my MacBook.  Any solutions?

Hi @Crab1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP DeskJet 4255e may have switched networks or encountered a connection conflict when adding another device. Try the following steps to reconnect your MacBook:

Restart Everything

  1. Restart the Printer – Turn it off, unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
  2. Restart Your MacBook – A simple restart can refresh network settings.
  3. Restart Your Wi-Fi Router – If your printer is wireless, restarting your router can help.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

If the printer was set up using Wi-Fi Direct or lost its network connection, you may need to reconnect it:

  1. Reset the printer's network settings:
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for about 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi light blinks.
  2. Reconnect using HP Smart:
    • Open HP Smart on your MacBook.
    • Click Add Printer and follow the instructions to connect it to Wi-Fi.

Re-add the Printer to Mac

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Remove the printer by selecting it and clicking Remove (-).
  3. Click Add (+) and select your HP DeskJet 4255e from the list.

Check for Connection Conflicts

  • If another device is using Wi-Fi Direct, your printer might disconnect from the main Wi-Fi. Make sure it stays connected to your home network.
  • Ensure all devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
