Hi @dp7070,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e printer is stuck during a firmware update, which can indeed be frustrating. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Wait Patiently: Sometimes, firmware updates can take longer than expected. Ensure you've given it ample time to complete. If it's been a significant amount of time (over an hour), then it's likely that the process has indeed hung up.

Restart the Printer:

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer using the power button. If it doesn’t respond, unplug it from the power source for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve issues caused by temporary software glitches.
  • Cold Reset: If a simple restart doesn't work, you may need to perform a cold reset.

Check Printer Connection: Ensure that your printer’s connection to the internet is stable if the firmware update is performed over a network. Sometimes, disruptions in the network connection can cause updates to hang.

Reattempt the Firmware Update: If the printer restarts normally and is operational, try running the firmware update again. Ensure that you download the latest firmware directly from the official HP website.

Use HP Software: If you have not already, install the HP printer software on your computer and use the HP utility tools to try updating the firmware through the software interface.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
