My printer does not show any alert
For the computer, when the paper or ink runs out, the error message is displayed on the printer screen

We work as systems developers and we need to read the status of the printer before sending the print command to it. I have a printer model M1132, when the paper runs out, it alerts the computer about that, and therefore we can also read the status, but the printer M402 does not show any alert.
For the computer, when the paper or ink runs out, only the error message is displayed on the printer screen, so when we read the status through the application, no error appears.

Hi @Mansurcc,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering an issue with your HP M402d printer not providing alerts to your computer when there are issues such as low paper or ink. This can indeed be frustrating, especially if you rely on these alerts for your work. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check Printer Settings: Make sure that the printer settings are configured to provide alerts to your computer. Sometimes, these settings can be adjusted in the printer's control panel or through the printer software on your computer.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your HP M402d printer. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause communication issues between the printer and your computer.
  • Restart Printer and Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication issues between devices. Try restarting both your printer and your computer to see if that helps.
  • Check Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer, either via USB cable or through a network connection. If using a network connection, make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Printer Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Firmware updates can sometimes fix bugs or issues with printer functionality.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue with your HP M402d printer not providing alerts to your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I will explain the problem with support pictures
First: The HP1132 printer works on a separate device, and when an error occurs, such as running out of paper, it gives an alert message. Therefore, I can read the status of the printer through the C# code and know if the printer has a problem, so I do not send any additional print command.

In the second device, the HP M402 printer was identified. If any error occurs, the printer displays the error only on the printer’s screen only, and when you try to read the printer status through the code, the error is not recognized, but the status is always ready.hp1132.jpeghp402.jpeghp402drwr.jpeg
