HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I was having an issue with the scanner (would not work in hp app but does if scan to usb).  I was told to install a new driver.  Since then, the printer has disappeared from windows and test prints (when I added smart to the printer) do not actually print.  I can printer from another win11 computer and my linux boxes.  I went through the diagnostic software for the printer and the printer was all black.

I should have added that 1) the printer worked before the installation of new drivers; 2) I tried to remove and have it re-detected -> it still  was not working.

I also want to add the before setting hp smart on the printer and after the change in the driver, the printer was showing "driver not found".

Hi @dmarizona99, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the driver update may have caused issues with the printer's ability to detect and use the enlargement settings properly. Given that the printer was working before the installation of new drivers and now shows "driver not found," here are some steps to troubleshoot:

Reinstall the Printer Driver Properly

Since the issue started after a driver update, a clean installation of the correct driver may help.

Uninstall the Current Driver:

  • Open Control PanelDevices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer and select Remove Device.
  • Go to Device ManagerPrint queues, find your printer, and Uninstall the driver.
  • Also, check Apps & Features in Settings and uninstall any HP-related printer software.
  • Restart your PC.

Reinstall the Correct Driver:

  • Go to HP’s official support website and download the latest driver for your specific printer model.
  • Run the installer and follow on-screen instructions.
  • Restart your PC after installation.

Reset the Printer

Perform a factory reset on your printer:

  • For touchscreen printers: Go to Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Defaults.
  • For non-touchscreen printers: Use button combinations (check HP’s manual for specific steps).

Set Up HP Smart Again

Since the issue worsened after setting up HP Smart, try removing and re-adding the printer:

  • Open HP Smart, remove the printer from the app.
  • Restart your PC and printer.
  • Re-add the printer in HP Smart.

Test Enlargement Settings Again

Now, try accessing the Resize settings as described earlier.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
