I have a Hp ENVY 7885 Printer. It failed an alignment and gave a message to clean the print heads.  When I go to what I think is the set-up icon (wheel/gear) all I get is info, no other options. How do I clean the print heads.

Hi @Dave2773,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To clean the print heads on your HP ENVY 7885 printer, you can follow these steps:

Use the Printer's Control Panel:

  • Turn on your printer.
  • From the home screen on the printer's control panel, touch the Setup icon (it looks like a gear or wrench).
  • Scroll through the options to find and select Printer Maintenance or Tools.
  • Look for and select Clean Printhead or Clean Cartridges. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Using HP Smart App (if installed):

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Select your printer from the list of available devices.
  • Go to the Print Quality Tools or Advanced Settings section.
  • Select Clean Printhead or a similar option and follow the prompts.

Using HP Printer Assistant (for Windows users):

  • On your computer, open the HP Printer Assistant software.
  • Click on Maintain Your Printer.
  • Select Clean Cartridges and follow the on-screen instructions.

Manual Cleaning (if automated methods fail):

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer and carefully remove the ink cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts and the printhead nozzles.
  • Allow the components to dry completely before reassembling the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
