Hi @Itech76 ,
Thank you for your reply
I understand you're having trouble getting your HP ENVY 5530 to install on your iMac running macOS 15.0 (presumably macOS Sonoma). Since the computer recognizes the printer when connected via USB but won't install it,
here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Check for Driver Updates
- Ensure you have the latest drivers for your printer. HP often updates drivers for compatibility with new macOS versions.
- Visit the HP Support page and search for the HP ENVY 5530 drivers for macOS 15.0.
- If a driver isn't available specifically for macOS 15.0, try using drivers for macOS 14.0, as they may be compatible.
2. Reset the Printing System
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or control-click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system.
- This will remove all current printer settings. Reconnect the printer afterward.
3. Add the Printer Manually
- Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Click the + button to add a new printer.
- Select your HP ENVY 5530 from the list of available printers.
- If it doesn’t show up automatically, try selecting the IP tab and entering the printer's IP address if it's network-capable.
- Choose the correct printer driver or AirPrint if available.
4. Try HP Easy Start HP Easy Start
- Download and install HP Easy Start from HP’s website. It simplifies the setup process and can automatically detect and install the correct drivers for your printer.
- HP Easy Start for macOS
5. Check for macOS Compatibility Set up the HP printer with AirPrint in macOS
- Ensure the printer model is fully compatible with macOS 15.0 by visiting Apple's AirPrint page or HP’s website.
- If AirPrint is supported, macOS should be able to use the printer without needing HP's full software suite.
6. Verify Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check if your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes printers need firmware updates to work with newer operating systems.
7. Use Apple’s Software Update
- Go to System Settings > General > Software Update.
- macOS should check for available updates, including printer drivers. Install any updates related to printing or your HP printer.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
