Hi @robertkings20

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your printer is not connecting to your WiFi and its not retaining the setting after sleep mode. The Error oxb878a646 and oxb8172a24 indicates that indicate a critical system crash or firmware failure, However I would request you to perform few steps and check if its getting resolved.

Confirm the IP Address Range

  • Is the printer’s IP address in the same subnet as your laptop and Mac? (e.g., all devices starting with 192.168.1.x)
    • If it’s something weird like 169.254.x.x, that means it didn’t get a proper IP from the router — in that case, reconnect via Wi-Fi setup on the printer to get a valid DHCP IP.

Assign a Static IP

  • On the printer’s control panel:
  • Go to Setup > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > IP Settings.
  • Manually set a static IP within your router’s DHCP range (e.g., 192.168.1.250 if that's not already taken).

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model. https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
  • Download and install the latest firmware update.
  • Firmware updates often fix recognition issues with new cartridges

Reset Network Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Setup → Restore Network Settings.
  • This clears old Wi‑Fi details.
  • Run the Wireless Setup Wizard again to connect fresh.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
