Hi @sgramer21,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out. I'd be happy to help. To start with, could you please let me know the exact HP printer model?

Since you mentioned that the printer cannot continue with the alignment, I'd recommend trying the following:

  1. Make sure there is plain white paper loaded in the input tray.
  2. Verify that the ink cartridges or printheads are installed correctly and that there are no cartridge-related error messages.
  3. If an alignment page was printed, place it on the scanner glass exactly as indicated on the page and try the alignment process again.
  4. Restart the printer:
    • Leave the printer powered on.
    • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
    • Wait about 60 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cord and allow the printer to initialize.

A few questions that will help narrow this down:

  • Does the printer print the alignment page, or does it fail before printing?
  • Are there any blinking lights or error messages on the printer?
  • Did you recently replace the cartridges or printheads?
  • What is the exact model of the printer?

If possible, please share a photo of any error message on the printer display or in the HP App. That will help us determine whether this is an alignment issue, a cartridge issue, or something preventing the printer from completing the setup process.

Looking forward to your reply.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
