on waking up from Sleep Mode my 9730e OfficeJet Pro is no longer recognised by my iMac. I have to switch the printer off, wait a minute, then switch back on to get it recognised again. This is obviously time consuming and presumably not good for the printer. I only have 5, 10 or 15 minute options for Sleep Mode, so I cannot even turn this off - which might have helped solve this problem?

@JooneO, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
This issue often occurs due to the printer losing connection with the Mac after waking from sleep mode. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve it:
Update Printer Firmware & macOS
- Ensure your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e firmware is up to date.
- Go to HP Smart App > Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Printer Updates
- Check if macOS Monterey (12.0) is updated to the latest version.
Reset Printing System on macOS
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners
- Right-click (or Ctrl + Click) on your printer and select Reset Printing System
- Re-add the printer using the + button
Change Printer Connection Type
If using Wi-Fi, switch to USB or Ethernet (if possible) to check if the issue persists.
Assign a Static IP (For Network Printers)
- Open HP Smart App or type printer’s IP Address in a web browser
- Navigate to Network Settings > Manual IP Configuration
- Assign a Static IP
Modify Sleep Settings (If Available)
Some HP printers allow sleep mode to be adjusted via EWS (Embedded Web Server):
- Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address
- Go to Settings > Power Management
- Try changing the sleep timeout settings
Reinstall HP Drivers
- Remove existing HP software:
- Go to Applications > HP folder > Run HP Uninstaller
- Download & Install the latest HP Easy Start & drivers from HP website
If the problem persists, let me know if the printer is USB, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet connected, and I’ll refine the troubleshooting! 🚀
Take care, and have an amazing day!
